It's sad ...

... that IWC has walked this path of LEs. The persons they combine with their watches are far apart from high-end horology. Imagine a soccer-football called Klaus or Breguet! It started with the strange choice of St Exupery and one wonders who and what will be next. A chrono for Stirling Moss? Figo is a great soccer player, and the Portuguese is a beautiful watch, but why must they materialise in that way? It would be okay if IWC made a personalised watch for Figo on demand, but who other than Figo would wear such a watch?

The limited edition Portuguese perpetual calendar Luis Figo I don’t now if there are many Purists that are keen on soccer, but I thought you would like to get to know this new IWC limited edition just released in Portugal. A special watch for a special so...

love IWC- but this LE is a little silly..

....as are all LEs that do not do something new to a watch. Dial / strap / colour changes do not make a LE. Material, movement, rarity due to circumstance etc do.

Luis Figo is a nice guy, the PC Port is a wonderful watch, BUT

I don't get this taste from IWC for LE, and I really regret the Luis figo Signature on the dial. A Pity because this is indeed a verey nice watch, and sometimes, the LE Trend tends to kill a piece. After the Zidane Ingenieur, the Figo Portuguese... A bit ...

I will be honest in my answer, Carlos

This Reverso is not disurbing me at all, as it is nice to have a watch and a picture at the same time. I can understand it. But, and this works also for JLC, there are some LE among the JLC watches that I don't understand, either... An example? OK for the...

sick of all the LEs

Too many LEs out there... its overdose... one for this soccer player or that other sports personality... another for a movie and yet another for a movie star... then come the boutiques and retailers all clamoring to have their own... and the whole marketi...

With the JLC post I was trying to see how you would react to an example from this brand (sorry for the Freudian approach ;-). I can not disagree with the critic that has been made, and I was trying to understand what reasons lie behind this kind of LE att...

I have to say that I am more than surprised but the majority of strong opinions expressed here that do not approve this kind of watches by, IWC, and if I am correct by any other prestigious watch making brand. I think some questions and thoughts should be...

Many manufacturers make special LEs, and some do have a tie in to sports personalities, such as the JLC '46' watches in honour of Valentino Rossi and the AP Shaquille O'Neal. As Nicolas stated, JLC have released some watches very close to each other that ...

With all the LEs, I think the ones that I cant stand are AP LEs ROOs. Dont get me wrong, I am an AP owner but I simply cannot tolerate the variety of coloured dial ROOs marketed as LE. I would rather the company spend more of their time & money coming up ...

Great LE discussion...

 By: Starman : October 22nd, 2008-11:24
I'm always wondering how quick these LE do sell. A lot of issues probably don't ever make the complete series; but we will never now. To keep the ship sailing every form of business has to do its marketing tricks. Isn't that called "branding". Nowadays th...
