IWC Perpetual back from service in time for 2022 rollover
Dec 24, 2021,19:53 PM
So I bought this watch at the end of October from WatchBox, which had it listed for a few thousand less than other sellers. Negotiated a bit of a discount on top of that. It arrived within a week of purchase, but after a few days of owning it, the Day and Date went out of sync. Instead of Sunday October 31, it said Sunday November 1 (it skipped the 31st). Sent it back to WB, who sent it in turn to Richemont for a full service and polish (which they paid for; I did ask them to also get me a new strap, which I paid for, figured the best way to get a watch strap changed would be by someone used to doing it, rather than a SA at a boutique/AD or myself and scratching the watch in the process). The original quote was for end of January 2022 return back to me, which was disappointing, as I had the watch in my possession for less than a week, and I would miss the year switchover that I was excited to see.
Working with the service department at WB, they said they would try to expedite. Fast forward to about 5 weeks after sending to WB, I got a call that the watch was back in their possession and ready to overnight to me. So all in all, a very pleasant experience, as I basically got a new watch for less than 50% of retail with a 2-year service warranty and an IWC pouch (which, by the way, feels cheaper than their previous service pouch, has anyone else noticed that?) This was my first service experience of any brand (I tend to flip watches before a service is needed) and wasn't sure what to expect, but it's pretty amazing how they turned a 16 year old watch (don't have the papers, but this watch has the older fish crown, instead of the Probus Scafusia crown, which I believe IWC stopped using in 2005).
Bonus shot of my AP that is not looking super duper new anymore (after only 5 months of ownership).
