As noted in my previous post Giampeiro Bodino was tasked to create a new look for Montblanc watches.
For new PuristS who do not know the name, Mr. Bodino is the "creative director" for Richemont group and is credited for revamping the Panerai Luminor case design.
Here is a recent interview from FT

According to Bodino, the first idea was to create a watch which could complement and accentuate Montblanc’s signature colors: black and white.
But more importantly, the design had to be completely opposite of Montblanc's previous design philosophy...heavy ornamental watch cases. In Bodino’s own words the Timewalker project was meant to reshape Montblanc’s image: “it was like going from a brick wall to a beautiful wrought iron gate”
Here is Bodino's design patent for your viewing pleasure:
So what specifically are the important design elements that Bodino used to achieve his goal?
Here is the "DNA" code for the Timewalker collection:
Together these elements create a watchcase which is still unique despite being 10 years old.
Montblanc's description of the Timewalker case is " Masculine technology with sporty elegance"
Do you agree?
I think the Timewalker does look good on a male's wrist.
Personally I love this look on a woman's wrist. I think it works better than Rolex or Panerai to achieve that sporty look which is the current trend. Don't believe me? Here is the Timewalker on Victoria Beckham's wrist!
Here is a female colleague demonstrating hers
No doubt the Timewalker has made its mark in the watch industry, it is the most popular and successful Montblanc watch collection ever since it first made its debut in 2003.
Enjoy, Mike
