Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph - "Should I stay or should I go?"

Sep 15, 2014,04:46 AM

Team,

My first on many areas:

- First time in my life that I strapped a Montblanc watch on my wrist.
- First time that I posted here.

I was offered by a long time seller a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec chronograph, the first version based on my research.

It's a trade+cash and is very good IMHO.

I took the watch with me and I'm trying it. It's MINT, full set as it should.

Some pictures from yesterday:

Now some questions to foster my decision:

Montblanc decision to release a second version was based on some movement issue or it was for pure aesthetic reasons?

The Montblanc logo on the crown lasts or falls/breaks?

Thanks and a great week to all,

Nilo

Damjan, It seems that I cannot have more than two GP. Last week another GP arrived (the last Olimpico) and this week the trade includes ... a GP (yes, that one). Decisions decisions ... Cheers, Nilo

At least took some shots of the Olimpico before you flipped it! Something you might share.... Best Blomman

Oh no!

I flipped the Vintage 1960. The Olimpico, the last from the series, is being pampered by my watchmaker and he just told me the fateful words "not for this week" (there is another mine on the queue - what will be?). My Olimpico is a bit new for you and Nic...

Aaah, better news!

About the crown

About the crown piece falling off... I would doubt that... as Montblanc, out of all of these brands has teh most experience with this type of thing :) I've never seen a montblanc pen without it's star at the top! :P I'm sure they gave that design aspect q...

Thank you very much ...

I asked about the crown because I'm 100% paranoid about non full metal crowns. About the Minerva, for sure, but here they are simply non-existent. I'm still considering if I "stay or go". Cheers, Nilo

Go for this watch!

It looks great on you Nilo! The next gen has exactly the same automatic movement but the dial was updated with a different look. Mike had posted the various generations of the Nicolas Rieussec here: As for the crown coming off, my friend has this same wa...

Advise accepted ...

Robin, I left the watch at home, on my single head winder and when I went for lunch (I always had lunch at home. Pleasure to live less than one mile from my office) and ... I hooked. I go, for my peace of mind, do a quick stop over at my watchmaker and I ...

Good choice Nilo!

I think you will enjoy it. If not, the pricing have stabilized...it shouldn't hurt too much :-) Mike
