A recap of my favorite Montblanc novelties from SIHH 2014
Jan 24, 2015,03:50 AM
As SIHH 2015 was happening, I took the chance to look at some of Montblanc's 2014 novelties at a local AD here recently.
The two 2014 models I like the most are the Heritage Perpetual Calendar and the Moonphase.
I didn't get the heritage PC in 2014 as I was lured by a JLC PC instead....
Many feel the subdials are too cluttered in the middle. For me I am ok with that. It's more of the date sub dial that I'm afraid will be too small for me to read when I age.
But the sunburst bombe dial and the case design of the 2014 Heritage series just makes me want to have it on my wrist. In RG especially, the weight of the watch on the wrist is just nice! Even the weight of the steel PC on the wrist is pretty nice (not a light watch with a nice wrist presence). The size at 39mm is also perfect. The mix of brushed and mirror polishing of the case is very nicely done too.
Maybe if the sub dials of the PC are too cluttered (I am more concerned with the small fonts of the date subdial as mentioned) then how about the moonphase model? The date fonts are bigger on a wider subdial and the dial design is not cluttered at all.
Prices of these models in steel or gold are all very attractive (especially the steel PC). I am tempted... But my logical mind tells me to wait to compare them with the 2015 models instead.
Looking forward to seeing them side by side soon (2014 vs 2015 novelties)
Meanwhile, these pics continue to haunt me lol!
Cheers
Robin
