I was greeted by Mike Giannattasio, the new President and Chief Executive Officer Montblanc North America. Mike was grinning ear from ear since he was able to abscond with the new Timewalker Chronograph 100 on his wrist.
Of course the first watch I wanted to see was the Homage to Nicolas Rieussec chronograph. IMHO this is the most successful and attractive interpretation of the Rieussec to date. The redesign of the chronograph subdial also is a perfect link historically.
The ceramic hours ring with the impregnated superluminova is a concept dreamed up by Alex Schmidt and one of his designers. The process of realizing this technique is a secret... only Montblanc has access to it.
The Exotourbillon Tourbillon Rattrapante Chronograph was shown next. If personaly finances would only allow for it, this is the piece that would replace the Rieussec at the top of the list.
The Meisterstuck Heritage Collection is a new line and focus for Montblanc. With this collection, Mr. Lambert hopes to welcome more horologically inclined collectors into the Montblanc family.
The crown jewel of the collection. The Monopusher Pulsographe.
The Moonphase is simply elegant. If someone had to give a gift or buy the "one watch of a lifetime" this would fall on the short list. Why? It has brand recognition, it has classic design elements which will stay beautiful despite changing times, the moonphase complication will always start a conversation amongst non-watch enthusiasts, and most importantly it is powered by an ETA engine so it can be serviced rather inexpensively and easily by watchmakers worldwide.
But get it with this bracelet! I love it. 5 pieces to its construction makes it super flexible and comfortable.
The Star Twin Moonphase.
Other goodies
For PuristS who are wondering why I didn't highlight more watches...stay tuned. We have a lot more to show in the next few weeks and months.
I'd like to thank Montblanc NA for inviting me to the event, Jonnice Slaughter, Alex Schmidt, and Mike Giannattasio for all the time and attention you've shown to our online community.
Enjoy, Mike
