You are indeed one of the Originals! The Original breed of PuristS in the early days, way before I joined you guys in his hobby. I didn't get to read of your posts in the JD days but definitely your articles and sharings on Montblanc watches have infected me to get my first Montblanc watch, which happens to be my virtuous wife, my beloved Montblanc Villeret, as Alex mentioned
Not sure if you remember - we were debating on the virtues of the watch vs the brand name etc. I got my VC, PP and even the Lange Dato and each time I passed the MB Villeret. You mentioned I was giving you a Purist Exam with some of the questions I posed regarding brand name on the dial vs the intrinsic joy I got from the watch
In the end, I got the Montblanc Villeret. A large part thanks to you and some other senior mods here who made me realize the passion for fine watchmaking is pure - not tainted with brand names and history and what others would think of my choice. And this forum had been great under your leadership Mike! People here welcomed my choice and no one laughed about Montblanc being a pen company when I shared my watch (trust me I got that kind of remarks elsewhere even if subtle). The PuristS spirit is strong here, thanks to dedicated moderators and forum members like yourself Mike.
I am very sad to see you resign as my fellow Moderator on the Montblanc forum here. I will miss our days of Skype calls to discuss topics to co-write on and share with our community here. I know you will still be around as MTF mentioned and I know deep down, your passion for Montblanc watches remains. I look forward to your sharings still, on PuristSPro and especially on our Montblanc forum!
All the best and hope you can have more time with your family and career. God bless
As a tribute to your years of service and your mentoring of me as a young moderator, I am wearing my Montblanc Villeret today. Remember that you played a large part in me getting this watch, developing my love for Montblanc watches and ultimately becoming a moderator here!
I would also like to thank Alex for his kind notes below to Mike and me. It's a pleasure partnering with a brand executive as passionate about both the watches of Montblanc, as well as our community of friends and our sharing of our passion here. Thank you Alex for your support all these while!
Cheers
Robin
